JYNX716, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

When first reviewing Che Noir’s ‘Food for Thought’ album that came out just over a month ago, I anticipated a very strong and self-reflective album. The list of features on the project definitely had me more than excited with the likes of Ransom, 38 Spesh, Rome Streetz, Armani Caesar and 7xvethegenius, but a particular individual caught my eye, and he goes by the name of Jynx716.

On ‘Eat or Starve’, Che Noir linked up with the rapper from Niagara Falls, whose debut mixtape ‘The Green Album’ dropped in 2020, the following year, Jynx716 dropped The 33, a 6-track EP.

Upon hearing the news of a collaboration tape with the two rappers from New York, it was only right to crave Careful What You Wish For, the 6-track project including guest appearances from Ransom and Jamal Gasol. The body of work is entirely produced by Che Noir.

The first track of the project, Focus, is cold, the instrumental is ominous, and the track is a perfect way to introduce yourself to those unfamiliar with your work.

Legacy featuring Ransom is striking, vicious and dangerous all at the same time, Ransom trusts Jynx716 on the instrumental, which shows a mutual respect, both rappers reflect on their lives and discuss haters, their superiority in the game and leaving a legacy behind after all of this.

The next track, titled Electrifying sets a slightly different mood over the minimalist but continuously presence-felt beat, Jynx716 spazzes in one take for what seems to be a clear demonstration of pure lyrical talent, “Trying to go from an empty garage to having a Porsche in it, black man in this crazy world we be feeling lost in it, to land a fortune the things we would, it’s unfortunate”

[…] ‘. Electrifying talks about the streets and how to think ahead, cherishing moments and not people “some N***** going to do their best, others are going to do the worst, the universe is going to give them what they asked for, just don’t be shy.”

Emerging from the beautiful soul sample, Stove God Cooks makes a surprise appearance on Lava Lamp with his unique and always riveting flow and voice, on top of that, Che Noir decides to hop on the track and keeping it real: “Independent label got to chase me for this deal, I was born with this flow, they did not teach me these skills, they want to kill us because we woke, they hate keeping it real.”

Bitcoin features Jamal Gasol, the instrumental is free flowing and the love Jynx shows for Che Noir is crystal clear and so refreshing to see considering these dark times that we are in: “Speaking of my homegirl Che, I think she underrated.”

Jamal Gasol’s lyrical scheme is very impressive and resembles both Ransom and Rome Streetz with his demeanor, voice and flow in my eyes.

Wake Up is the last track of the album, Jynx716 is having fun over the addictive instrumental from Che Noir and shows on this project exactly why he is up next in the game. Overall Careful What You Wish For is everything I adore in hip-hop and will definitely keep the name of Jynx in my future repertoire.
