RANSOM,

NO REST FOR THE WICKED

NO REST FOR THE WICKED

After taking a leave of absence at the end of 2021 after dropping four extraordinary projects, Ransom is back with No Rest For The Wicked, his latest release featuring The Game, 38 Spesh, Willie The Kid, J.Arrr, Tyrant and Black Chakra.

I hadn’t even finished digesting the project before Ransom announced he was dropping more heat soon- something I can only look forward to-, following his incredible work ethic after he dropped four projects last year.

The 11-track project contains Circumstances featuring The Game and was released just a week before the full body of work, produced by the unbeatable Nicholas Craven.

I don’t even know where to start with this review, 38 minutes seems like a perfect runtime for Ransom to talk his shit and let his words marinate for everyone, we are given The Hawk produced by Streezy immediately into the project and it’s simply stunning. I am aware a lot of bars went over my head but in many ways I’m glad they did. This only means every time I listen to each song again, I’ll catch slick references I didn’t get before.

All features worked perfectly, from 38 Spesh, to J.Arrr and Tyrant’s gritty verse, No Rest For The Wicked, it’s everything I expected to be.

The production from Nicholas Craven, Bernard B. Woodside, Streezy, Mayor, Big Jack, Prophecy and J.Arrr is excellent and each track follows similar patterns.

I wish I could dwelve into each song specifically but there are so many bars I have yet to catch, which emphasises Ransom’s leadership in this game and goes to show once again why he might be the illest and most lyrical rapper on the planet.
